How to make sushi rice?

Preparing the sushi rice might look complicated and pedantic at first, but as you go along with it you might notice that it's just like making ordinary rice, only with rice vinegar added to it, and a bit of Japanese methodology.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups uncooked short grain rice.
  • 3½ cups water.
  • ½ cup rice vinegar.
  • 2 spoons sugar.
  • 2 tbsp salt.

Preparations:

  1. Mix rice vinegar with sugar and salt in a pan, on medium heat until you get a solid mixture. Careful - Don't over heat.
  2. Wash the rice thoroughly, then put it in the rice cooker/large pot, along with water.
  3. If you're not using a rice cooker, stir the rice until the water is boiling. When boiling, stop stirring, cover the pot, and lower the heat.
  4. When the rice is ready, take it out into a large bowl. don't scrap the bottom of the pot/cooker. If the rice doesn't come out easily, leave it be.
  5. Pour the vinegar mixture on the rice and mix well.
  6. Let the rice cool down by the window,or next to fan (never in the fridge). Once it gets about room temperature you can start rolling.
  7. Enjoy!
